Casino not paying out? What to do when a crypto casino won’t pay
A delayed or refused withdrawal is stressful, and the order in which you act matters. Most disputes turn on the terms you accepted, so the first job is to find out which rule the casino is relying on. This guide goes from the first hour to the point where it is better to stop.
1. Secure the evidence first
Before you argue, collect everything while you still have account access:
- Screenshots of your balance, the withdrawal request and its status, with the date visible.
- The deposit and withdrawal history, and every transaction hash. Check deposits and any partial payouts in our withdrawal verifier so you know what reached the chain.
- The bet history for the session in question, including round IDs and seeds for provably fair games.
- A saved copy of the terms, bonus terms and KYC policy as they are today (save as PDF); terms change.
- All chat transcripts and emails. Ask support to email you the chat if it is not saved automatically.
- The licence claim from the footer and terms: company, number, regulator. See how to check a casino licence.
2. Find the clause they are using
Ask support in writing which term blocks the payment. Then read it yourself. The common ones:
| Clause | What it says | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit wagering | Deposits must be bet a set number of times before withdrawal. Terms we read in October 2026 ranged from at least 1x to 100% of each deposit. | Your total bets since the deposit, in the bet history. |
| KYC | Identity, address or source-of-funds checks, sometimes from a threshold (one set of terms we read made KYC mandatory from USD 2,200 of cumulative deposits). | Which documents, and whether the casino said what is missing. |
| Bonus terms | Wagering multiple (40x was a default in one set we read), max bet, excluded games. | Whether a bonus was active, and every stake while it was. See wagering explained. |
| Restricted countries | Accounts from listed countries can be closed and winnings voided. | Whether your country was listed when you signed up; many terms also forbid using a VPN. |
| Multiple accounts, irregular play | Broad clauses allowing the casino to void winnings. | Ask for the specific bets or accounts they mean. |
Be honest with yourself here. If you did break a clause, a complaint is unlikely to succeed. If the clause is vague, was added after you played, or the casino will not say which one applies, you have a case.
3. Escalate inside the casino
- Send one written, formal complaint by email or the casino’s complaint form: account ID, amounts, dates, transaction hashes, the clause they cite and why you disagree, and what you want.
- Ask for a reference number and the expected response time.
- Answer document requests completely and in one go; partial uploads can restart a review.
- Stay factual. Threats and insults are often quoted back as a reason to close the account.
4. Complain to the regulator or its dispute service
Every route below expects you to have complained to the casino first.
Curaçao
Under the complaint rules reported in June 2025, CGA-licensed operators must offer a free complaint process, players have six months from the disputed event to file, and unresolved disputes go to an independent alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider paid for by the operator. The same report says the CGA does not intervene in individual disputes. The operator’s own complaint policy should name its ADR provider; check that provider against the CGA’s site (cga.cw) in a browser.
Kahnawake
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission has a complaint page and form for its licensees. It asks for your details, the site, your username and what happened, and says complaints must go to the operator first.
Malta (MGA)
The MGA site refused our automated requests, so we could not confirm its current complaint process. Type mga.org.mt into a browser and look for its player support or complaint section, and check what the casino’s terms say about escalation.
Anjouan
Look for a complaint or dispute section on the Anjouan regulator’s site named in the casino’s terms. Its site showed us a bot-check page, so we could not confirm the current process; record that you tried.
Why chargebacks do not work here
A confirmed on-chain transfer is final. There is no issuer in the middle who can pull it back, which is the same property that makes crypto withdrawals fast. If you paid an exchange by card to buy the crypto, any card dispute would be about that purchase, which the exchange delivered. A dispute filed because a casino later refused to pay is unlikely to succeed and could put your exchange account at risk.
Beware of “recovery” services
People who post about unpaid winnings are targeted by fake recovery firms and fake lawyers. The FBI’s August 2025 warning lists the signs: payment requested in crypto or gift cards, claims of government recovery lists, group chats with supposed bank processors, and refusal to show credentials or appear on video. It also notes that the US government does not charge for law enforcement services.
- Nobody but the casino can release a casino balance, and nobody can reverse a blockchain transfer.
- Never share seed phrases, exchange logins or remote access to your computer.
- Regulators and ADR services do not ask you to pay in crypto.
When to stop
Stop putting in time and money when the regulator route is exhausted, the amount is smaller than the cost of a lawyer in the operator’s jurisdiction, or the dispute is affecting your sleep, work or relationships. Do not deposit again to “win it back”. If chasing a loss feels urgent, read our responsible gambling page and the self-exclusion guide. For the next casino, reading its terms, its profile and, where available, its hot-wallet payouts on our payout monitor before depositing costs less than any dispute.
FAQ
Can I do a chargeback on a crypto casino deposit?
Not on the crypto transfer itself: a confirmed on-chain transfer cannot be reversed by any bank or card network. If you bought the crypto with a card, the card transaction was the purchase from the exchange, and that purchase was normally delivered as agreed. Your card issuer is unlikely to treat what the casino did later as a reason to reverse it, and gambling disputes are generally not a strong ground for a chargeback.
How long should I wait before escalating?
Check the casino’s stated processing time and give it that plus a short margin. Under Curaçao’s complaint rules as reported in 2025, operators have four weeks to address an ordinary complaint, extendable by four weeks with notice to the player. Write your formal complaint early so the clock starts.
Will the regulator get my money back?
Usually not directly. Regulators such as the Curaçao Gaming Authority have said they do not intervene in individual disputes and instead rely on dispute resolution providers and use complaints to spot problem operators. Some regulators, such as Kahnawake, run their own complaint process. A licence gives you a route, not a guarantee.
Someone offered to recover my funds for a fee. Should I pay?
No. The FBI has warned about fake law firms and recovery services that target people who have already lost money. Nobody can reverse an on-chain transfer, and a legitimate regulator or dispute service does not ask you to pay in crypto or gift cards.
